Announcing the Promotion of Dr. Yang as Principal

We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Yang Yang, our Deputy Head, has been appointed as the Principal of Wellington College Tianjin. She will continue to lead and manage the school together with Mr. Julian Jeffrey, the Executive Master of Wellington College Tianjin, and will be responsible for the management of the Nest, Junior School and Senior School.

 

 
 

 

Dr Yang holds a PhD in Sociology of Education. She is a guest professor, a supervisor of Master’s-level students at the School of Education of Tianjin University and a member of the Tianjin Hongqiao District Political Consultative Conference. Dr Yang formerly worked as the Director of the International Department of Tianjin Nankai Middle School and Vice-Principal of the Foreign Language School affiliated with Tianjin Foreign Studies University. Dr Yang has extensive experience of teaching and management in both the domestic and international systems. In October 2021, Dr. Yang was awarded a prize as one of the "Top 10 Most Creative Heads of School / Kindergarten" at the 5th Annual International School Industry Conference.

 
 
 

 

 

 

 

 

During her six years at Wellington College Tianjin, Dr Yang has actively explored the path of international education, built bridges between Chinese and expatriate teachers and students, and has made a significant impact in communication across the parent and school community. She has strived to provide a good platform for student development and success in terms of the curriculum, the teaching team, and the culture of the school. Before her appointment as the Principal of Wellington College Tianjin, Dr Yang was the Deputy Head of the school and the Director of the A Level Centre.

 

 

Julian Jeffrey, the Executive Master of Wellington College Tianjin, commented, “It has been such a pleasure to work with Yang over the past six years. I have learned a huge amount from her during our time as colleagues. In her capacity as Deputy Head, she has been at the forefront of the progress made in the education we offer to our pupils. Her commitment, experience and unshakable adherence to our Wellington values have all been essential in improving the school. As Principal, she will work even closer with the heads of school to support me and the governing body to ensure that Wellington continues to be an outstanding school.”
