Our outdoor spaces are designed to offer huge potential to foster children’s Characteristics of Effective Learning in natural and surroundings. Outdoor learning lets pupils run, climb and explore in ways that are not always possible in their everyday lives. Teaching and learning actively outdoors helps them to develop a strong sense of independence, physical strength and a sensitivity to their surroundings.
Each nursery class has its own co-teaching partnership which forms an integral part of the class team. Strengthened by a shared understanding of the bi-cultural Wellington ethos, teachers, teaching assistants and early years assistants work collectively to share responsibility for each child’s individual learning and promote all the areas of learning and development in both English and Chinese.
Wellington College International Tianjin places the safety and wellbeing of its community at the heart of all that we do as an institution. This includes robust child protection and safeguarding policies and procedures. All members of staff understand the central importance of this commitment, and undertake annual training in safeguarding young people. In addition, they are required to read and sign the Colleges’ Safeguarding Policy and Staff Code of Conduct each year. The College adheres to the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection (ITFCP) for its recruitment processes; applicants to the College are required to undergo rigorous background checks prior to appointment.
