The Week Ahead 25 June 2021

25 Jun 2021

Dear parents

This is just a short Week Ahead piece from me this week, as you will be getting a more comprehensive review of the year from next week. I just wanted to use this space to thank all our families once more for their loyalty and support for the school over the past year. It has been such a thrill to be able to come together once again as an entire community, and the thousands of visitors to our Summer Fair saw the terrific spirit in the school, despite the unfriendly weather. We will inevitably be saying goodbye to some families next week when the term ends. To those parents and children, I send my very best wishes for the future, whether at university or another school. I hope that your time in Wellington has fostered in your children a love of learning and respect for values that will stand them in good stead as they grow into adults.

To our other families, I wish you all a very happy holiday. The long break affords so many opportunities to refresh and recharge and explore new places and learn new skills. I look forward to welcoming you and your children back to school on Wednesday, 25th August.

Best wishes

Julian Jeffrey

Arrangements for the final week (28th – 30th June)

There are no ASAs in the final week of this term. As a result, school will close at 1600hrs on Monday and Tuesday. The buses will depart at 1605hrs. On Wednesday, the school day finishes at 1130hrs. Buses will leave at that time too. Lunch is not provided.

This academic year's final set of reports will be published to parents on the Parent Portal at 1700hrs on Wednesday. Pupils will also be issued with a hard copy of their report on the day.

FROM MRS MARKOVIC, DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

The Design and Technology department is proud to announce that our first Wellington Design Week was a success and that the Winners of the FUSION Dress Challenge are

Gold medal: Roger (Year 5)
Silver medals: Katherine (Year 1) and April (Year 2)

Congratulations to all the participants of the Fusion Challenge (which was open to the whole Wellington community- students, parents, and teachers). We hope to have even more Fusions around next year to enjoy and celebrate our Fused multicultural community!

We hope you enjoyed the Students' Design exhibition throughout our school corridors and the Wellington Fashion show during our rainy Summer Fair. Here are some photos we would like to share!

Let's enjoy good designs around the world and make them even better!

Katherine Y1 – ‘Protection and Fashion’
‘Use recycled plastics and faux fur to make a tuxedo designed to encourage everyone to protect animals, protect the environment, make more use of recycled materials, for the beautiful environment from me.’

April, Y2 – ‘This outfit combined Chinese Spring Festival couplets and Christmas tree details. It is a mixture of Eastern and Western culture. April called it “Red Surprise”.’

Roger Y5 - My Manmade “Tree”
‘I fused myself with nature and every country because every country has a connection with trees. I made this with my mom. Before, I used to use it to perform a show, and I picked to act a tree. I think it is cool to wear what I made to school (and it is). I think it also could be treated as a fusion of stage and daily style.’
