Learning through play and the importance of a Bilingual Curriculum

Here at Wellington, in furthering the delivery of an international education in a Chinese context, we have merged the English Early Years Foundation Stage and the Chinese Curriculum (2-6 years) guidelines to create an encompassing curriculum and Wellington framework for teaching and learning.

This academic year, we welcomed Ms Jan Bennett to join Wellington as the Head of Early Years. She is passionate about outdoor learning, and excited to bring STEAM curriculum to the Nest. By integrating those to our current curriculum, we offer the children a play-based bilingual curriculum with various learning experience and opportunities.

  Learning Journey

At Wellington College Bilingual Tianjin, we adopt the Learning and Development Guide published by the Ministry of Education of China, and aspects of learning for pupils is also informed and inspired by the Early Years Foundation Stage from the UK (EYFS). The educational experience at Wellington College Bilingual Tianjin is a play-based approach to learning where the outcomes and characteristics of eff ective learning are fostered.

The ways in which a child engages with other people and their environment – playing and exploring, active learning, creating and thinking critically – underpin learning and development across all areas which supports the child to remain an eff ective and motivated learner.
