Early Years Pupils become Firemen for the day

10 Mar 2017
The Nursery Puffin and Penguin classes have been learning about different forms of transport this term. This week they were discovering all about Emergency vehicles and with the help of Ms Vera Wang from the Operations Department a real Fire Engine and its crew visited school on Thursday morning. The children were able to learn about how a Fire Engine works and about its different parts including the hose for the water. They each tried on a real Fire helmet and sat inside the Fire Engine cab. The Fire chief let them listen to the Fire Engine siren and the crew demonstrated how they put out a real fire. It was all very exciting and the children were inspired to create some lovely art work and talking points about fire safety when they returned to class.
