The Year One Class graduation ceremony was a heartwarming celebration of young learners’ achievements, marking the end of their first significant academic journey within The Nest. The event was filled with joy, pride, and reflection as children, parents, and teachers gathered to honor the hard work and growth of these bright young minds.

A Performance Representing the Seasons of Learning

The ceremony began with a delightful showcase of poems, songs, and dances, each representing the four seasons of the year—symbolizing the children’s educational journey throughout Year One. Just as the seasons change, the children have grown, adapted, and blossomed in their learning.

The performances highlighted not only their creativity but also their developing language skills. The children confidently recited poems and sang songs in both Chinese and English, demonstrating their bilingual abilities—a key focus of their early education. Parents beamed with pride as they watched their children perform, seeing firsthand the progress they had made in communication, expression, and confidence.

Following the performances, the children were individually greeted by Dr Yang Yang (Master) and Mr Shane Campbell (Deputy Head of College), who congratulated each pupil on their academic achievements. This personal recognition was a touching moment, as the children shook hands, received certificates, and smiled for photographs—an acknowledgment of their hard work and dedication throughout the year.

After the formal ceremony, parents, teachers, and children gathered to continue the celebration with catered food and cupcakes. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and excitement as the children enjoyed this special time with their loved ones. A professional photographer captured precious moments as families and teachers posed together, creating lasting memories of this important milestone. The children, dressed smartly, radiated happiness as they celebrated with their parents, who had supported them every step of the way.

A Foundation for Future Success

This graduation was more than just a ceremony—it was a celebration of the wonderful journey of learning and growth that these young children have undertaken. Throughout their time in The Nest, they have developed essential skills that will serve as a strong foundation for their future education:

Language skills – Building fluency in both Chinese and English

Literacy skills – Developing reading and writing abilities

Social skills – Learning to collaborate and communicate with peers

Emotional skills – Gaining confidence and resilience

Problem-solving skills – Cultivating curiosity and critical thinking

This event also marked an important transition point in their educational journey. While some children will continue their learning within our Junior School, others will embark on new adventures at different schools. No matter where they go, they leave with a solid foundation that will help them thrive in their next steps.
