Into the Classroom | Year 1 Graduation Trip
Recently, Year 1 pupils from Wellington College Bilingual Tianjin Nursery had the opportunity to visit Eden in Ji Zhou, a popular nature reserve in this region. This trip was arranged to give young children the opportunity to learn about nature and the environment in a fun and interactive way.
The children were excited when they arrived and eager to explore and engage in the many activities that had been planned for them. The first activity of the day was cooking, where the children learned about healthy eating and the importance of using fresh ingredients.
Next, the children were taken to the pottery studio where they were given the chance to create their own clay pots. This activity was a hit with the children, who loved getting their hands dirty and using their imagination to create unique designs. The pottery studio was filled with laughter and chatter as the children worked on their creations, with teachers and parents on hand to offer guidance and support.
After a short break for lunch, the children were given some free time to explore the nature reserve on their own. They were encouraged to observe the plants and animals around them and to ask questions about the environment. This free-play time allowed the children to express their curiosity and creativity, and to appreciate the beauty of nature.
At night, the children were treated to an astronomy lesson where they learned about the stars and planets. They were shown how to use a telescope and were given the chance to observe the night sky for themselves. This activity was particularly exciting for the children, who were fascinated by the mysteries of the universe. The following morning the children went on a hiking adventure, exploring the different trails and paths around the nature reserve. They were encouraged to use their senses to observe the environment, and to appreciate the natural beauty around them. The hike was a great way to end the day, allowing the children to reflect on all that they had learned and experienced.
Overall, the educational trip to Eden was a huge success. The children had a fantastic time, and the teachers were pleased to see how engaged and enthusiastic the children were throughout the day. The trip was a wonderful way to teach children about nature and the environment, and to encourage them to develop a love for the natural world. We wish them well in Year 2!
