The Chinese zodiac, also known as Sheng Xiao or Shu Xiang, is a repeating cycle of 12 years where each year represents a different animal. The 12 zodiac signs in order are Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. It has a history of over 2000 years and plays an important role in traditional Chinese culture.

It is said that originated from a competition held by the Jade Emperor. In this story, the Jade Emperor organised a race to determine which lucky animals would have the honour of being added to the lunar calendar. However, why these animals and why are they arranged in this specific order? Let's follow Ms Melody and find out the answers!
