World Book Week at Nest 2023

23 Mar 2023

Celebrating our World Book Week! We had a series of reading activities throughout the week.

Monday · Photos of reading at home

We worked together to engage all the families in recording photos of everything that they read as a family unit. This was aimed at drawing attention to opportunities for reading and highlighting the importance of being a reading role model for children when they were at home.

At the same time, families sent some photographs of them and their children reading in a comfy or interesting place. As teachers, we had the photos in school, and we displayed them as part of the home/school collaboration to promote the joy of reading.

Wednesday · Parent readers

On Wednesday, we had parents read to us in the classroom.

Friday · Surprise readers from the school

On Friday, we had several surprise readers come to visit us in the classroom. They were the non-academic staff from the school.

It goes to show that everyone is a reader no matter where they are from, or what are they doing.

Reading is the key to success. Remember, learn to read and read to learn.
