Keeping Safe and Carry on Learning

13 Jan 2022

Dear parents

In order to deal safely and effectively with the latest development in the fight against the pandemic, and to ensure the health of our pupils, families and teachers, we have been asked to keep our children at home. As parents, can I ask that your child is offered support, not only for a suitable working environment, but that they are provided with adequate rest and exercise breaks during this period.

In order to enrich the children's home life, the Nest has developed a teaching plan to support further learning and our e-learning programme has been started. We are confident that, given our expertise as a Microsoft Showcase school and our prior experience in 2020, we will continue to maintain the high standards and expectations around teaching and learning.

Please note the following changes

  • All teaching and learning will take place online, via Microsoft Teams

  • The ASA programme has been postponed

The following gives an overview

of the expectations of e-Learning

  • You will receive a timetable for this week from your class teacher and will give timings and a learning focus for each taught session. The children will have a follow up task to do offline after each session. We have considered the everyday objects children will have available in the home.

  • We have adjusted the online session times to ensure they are age appropriate. We know young children are not designed to sit in front of a device for long periods of time. Our timetables for the different year groups reflects this.

  • We will ensure there are lots of opportunities for movement and active learning

  • Class registration will take place at 8:45 every morning and we will monitor who is online for every session during the day. This will allow us to track who has missed learning and will need to catch up when we return to school.

  • Pupils will need access to a device so that they can engage with the teaching and learning.

We understand this is a very stressful time and online learning can be challenging for children in the Nest at times. If you require any further information or support, please contact us directly. You can also contact us via T-chat.

At the same time, to protect the wellbeing of all pupils, teachers and parents, we would like to remind you all of the need to ensure the safety of the school campus.

Report at the First Time

Please observe all measures introduced to prevent the spread of the epidemic. Remain at home if you live in a compound designated within a lockdown area and keep a close eye on the health of your child and family.

Take Nucleic Acid Testing in Time

Please ensure that you undertake the required Nucleic Acid testing procedures when required, reporting the results to the school in a timely manner, including any updates to your family’s results.

Please Don't Leave TJ Unless Necessary

Furthermore, please do not leave Tianjin until the current difficult situation is ended. It is important to take precautions for working from home, ensuring careful household and personal hygiene through adequate ventilation, washing hands and taking care with cooking and eating utensils. Please check your child’s temperature each day.

Strengthening Health Management and Protection

If you have to go outside, please remember to wear a mask at all times, observing the one-metre rule for social distancing and washing your hands frequently.

Taking Vaccination in Time

In line with government requirements, children aged between 3 and 11 years should receive a covid-19 vaccination. Please ensure that your child has received the vaccination.

Finally, please check regularly with the school authorities for updates on the local situation. At difficult times like these, we all need accurate, timely and reliable information and the school and local authorities are best placed to provide this.

Thank you once again for your support and cooperation. We look forward to a swift end to the current challenges.
