Chef's for the day
01 Jun 2017
Excitement was abound in both the Puffin and Penguin Nursery classes as they attended a special cookery lesson organised by Chef Oliver from Compass group, our food service provider last week.
The children were making healthy vegetable pizzas, with ingredients and equipment prepared and ready for them to undertake the cooking challenge in the school dining hall.
After making sure the children all had nice clean hands Chef Oliver demonstrated how to roll the pizza dough to make a round base. There were plenty of vegetables to choose from to make a delicious topping including homemade tomato sauce, fresh tomatoes, courgettes, colourful capsicum peppers and of course lots of tasty cheese.
The children made a very good job of rolling out their pizza base and remembering the order to put the toppings on. They all concentrated well and made very professional looking pizzas. Once they were baked in the oven they enjoyed eating every last slice.
The children thanked Mr Oliver, Tony and Brenda [from Compass] for a great morning cooking and cannot wait to do it all again. Yum!
