Nest Winter Show | Stick Man

This year we wanted to do something different for our Winter Show. Something that would showcase the different talents of our children and something that enabled them to use English. What better way than to use a favourite book by Julia Donaldson, Stick Man!

The decision was made! Ms Justine wrote the script. Ms Gloria taught the ballet. Ms Suri and Ms Phoebe taught the singing after-school activity group the Stick Man song. Ms Chen and Ms Kim taught special songs in music lessons. Ms Justine did the back projections for the stage. The teachers all worked together to create the scenery, carry out stage management, communicate with families about costumes, learn lines and how to move children on and off the stage as quietly as possible.
Put it all together and what do we have? Stick Man! The Nest Show. What an incredible performance it was! We had amazing actors and narrators. This gave our Year 1 children their opportunity to shine, taking on leading roles. We were able to give some reception children speaking parts as they were confident to speak English on stage. We had a beautiful ballet with music from The Nutcracker and The Sound of Music. We had a stage filled with singing snowmen and singing Santas. Year 1 walked us through a Winter Wonderland and reception saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus!
It really was a showstopper and a musical extravaganza. I am so proud of everyone. To deliver such a wonderful performance for our families was one of the highlights of the year!
